This course is for Adults and Children of 12 years and upwards.  

 

You do not need to have any experience or knowledge of boats to participate. It's a Two day fun packed course, providing you with skills and knowledge to drive a powerboat safely. At the end of this course you will receive the RYA powerboat level 2, which can also give you the international certificate of competence, required overseas.  

 

Again candidates under the age of 16 will be endorsed.  

 

In addition to RYA Powerboat Level 1, you will learn more on safety checks, maneuvering at low and high speed, coming along side, anchoring, man overboard and lots more. 

 

Everybody usually comes back with a big smile after the high speed stuff out on the open seas!  

 

We also cover more on the interesting bits of chart work, weather and tides in the classroom, but don't worry there are no theory tests or exams. This is to demonstrate and build on your enthusiasm! 

 

At the end of this course you will be able to safely drive and manage a powerboat, with a knowledge of weather, sea conditions, along with understanding and respecting the limitations of the boat and crew.  

 

Course minimum Duration: Two days.  

 

International Certificate of Competence (ICC) Direct Assessment 

 

If you possess the relevant boat handling skills, theoretical knowledge and can demonstrate your competency, you can apply to take an ICC Direct Assessment. In effect this is the Powerboat Level 2 Direct Assessment. If you pass then we will complete an ICC application form for you to send to the RYA, who issue you with your International Certificate of Competence. 

 

The ICC Direct Assessment is up to one day in duration.
